Nothin’ To You

NOTHIN’ TO YOU (K. McMaster)  –  7:18

There once was innocence, I swear to god,

There once was beauty too,

There once were birthmarks and toothy grins,

And once there was no sin,

There once was a girl I used to know,

But she had places to go, people to see,

There once was a boy who learned to see,

And you see, that boy was me,

Two pigtails set the world afire,

And left him hangin’ by a wire…

Ew, ew, it’s nothin’ to you…

You learned about medicine,

Trial and error,

You saw the spiral,

It’s arms were warm in the winter breeze,

And a spark can burn a whole world down,

Melt ice castles, expose a filthy town,

But you must believe there is a God,

When you see her walkin’ tall,

The subtle Hell of her soft skin,

Should tell you of the state I’m in…

Ew, ew, it’s nothin’ to you…

And darlin’ what would you do for a dollar?

Would you do that?

You burnt your sugar bridges,

Too much fire below,

Jezebel and Magdalene,

In a Eucalyptus cocoon,

From butterfly into a rat,

“That’s no good, it’s gotta be tighter than that,

To expose the vein!”

The vampire’s kiss from a needle’s tongue…

Ew, ew, it’s nothin’ to you…

And a kiss is just a kiss,

But it’s something that I missed,

A soft taste of your lips,

It’s something that I missed,

And a smile is just a smile,

And it’s not far from a frown,

In this shitty town,

There lives a lonely clown,

And a kiss is just a kiss,

But it’s something that I missed…

‘Cause I ain’t nothin’ to you…
